You've Found Your Dream Curriculum. Now, How Are You Going to Print It?

Last month, we asked Hearth & Story families how they print their curriculum, and we received almost a thousand responses! Here’s what people said:

• 642 printed at home with an inkjet printer

• 201 printed at home with a laser printer

• 108 used an outside printing company

• 26 fell into the “other” category

In our family, we have used both an Epson Ecotank and a Brother laser printer to print our Hearth & Story. Both worked really well. (Just don’t ever buy off-brand toner for your laser printer… you might end up with a magenta explosion in your office like we did!)

Then, for the 108 families who used a printing company, we also asked which one. Most folks who used an outside company to print chose one of the homeschool-focused print shops, such as Hard Copy HQ, The Homeschool Printing Company, Humble Heart Press, Watson Family Press, or Homeschool Printing Services. A few families chose to print with a big box retailer such as Office Depot, Office Max, or Staples. However, these folks reported that using a big box printing store was on average more expensive than working with a smaller, homeschool-focused company.
